Cali and Baja California Sign Letter of Intent to Boost International Tourism

During the Anato 2024 Tourism Fair, a letter of intent was signed between the Secretaries of Tourism of Baja California and Cali to promote the exchange of experiences. This agreement aims to strengthen their tourist destinations and attract more national and international visitors. The signing took place during the country’s most important tourism fair, Anato 2024.

In a ceremonial event attended by the tourism secretaries of both destinations, this agreement was formalized to enhance the tourist image and attract a greater number of national and international visitors. This letter of intent represents a milestone in the collaboration between Cali and Baja California, establishing solid foundations for cooperation and the exchange of knowledge in the tourism sector. The primary objective of this strategic alliance is to strengthen the tourism environment, promoting unique and enriching experiences in both Cali and the state of Baja California.

“The mandate of Mayor Alejandro Eder has been to internationalize Cali and to be able to make alliances that allow us to showcase our destination, Santiago de Cali. In this way, we have signed an agreement of understanding, which will basically allow us to share data and experiences with Baja California, Mexico, as a successful tourism case in the world and the region,” highlighted Mábel Lara, Secretary of Tourism of Cali, who also emphasized that Baja California has projected to the world “its diverse landscapes, its medical tourism, and especially its local gastronomy,” attractions shared with the ‘Branch of Heaven.’

The lines of cooperation and exchange of experiences will focus on Health and Wellness Tourism; Nature Tourism; Gastronomic Tourism, and Community Tourism.

“We are very happy to have signed this agreement because we will be able to contribute everything we are doing, but we will also learn from what Santiago de Cali is doing to strengthen regional and international tourism,” said Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism of Baja California, who emphasized that thanks to this agreement, they are projecting an “exchange of knowledge not only touristy but also of products.”

It is important to highlight that this alliance arises during Cali’s outstanding participation in Fitur, Spain, with a firm purpose: to strengthen the image of Cali as an authentic ‘Creative City.’

This agreement marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between Cali and Baja California, reflecting the commitment of the Mayor’s Office of Cali to strengthen its presence internationally and consolidate its position as a world-class tourist destination.

The internationalization of the city is a priority, and this agreement is a significant step towards promoting Cali as a vibrant and welcoming tourist destination for visitors from all over the world.
